Dona’s Story

Site created on March 20, 2021

Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting. We look forward to reading her all you thoughts, comments, stories, memories and well wishes! I'm sure you all will make her smile.

I have created this site for friends and family to track Dona’s life, comment, and make tributes. Feel free to comment, tell stories, share memories and honor Dona.

Newest Update

Journal entry by J Dallas Gudgell

Hello Everyone,

This is  Dallas (Dona's son) with an update.

HOUSEKEEPING: First, I received several emails, texts and calls from friends and family that seen confused about this site in 2 ways.

1) Requests for money: Please do not donate money. We are not asking for money. It sounds to me like friends and family I have invited to participate in Dona's Caring Bridge updates are aggressively being asked - by the CaringBridge site - for donations. To be clear, I am not asking for any donations nor am I recommending anyone donate to the CaringBridge.

2) Why I set up the site: The propose of the site is for Dona's friends and family to get updates on her condition and daily life (all in one place). Dona is alive and as well as anyone can be 6 months into HOME hospice and living with an aggressive cancer. The site is designed to give updates regarding Dona, share well wishes with Dona, share memories and tributes with Dona and each other while, she is alive and with us. If the sites asking for donations continues to be a problem please let me know and I will find another platform to share with you all Dona's updates and daily life.

UPDATE:  Yesterday Dona, enjoyed a low key birthday party with her youngest grandchildren Andrea Faith and Garen Roy.  I have posted a few pictures of the event. Today her oldest granddaughter Toni Smith came by for a visit and to share croissants, breakfast pastries and delicious fruit. (Sorry Toni, we should have taken pictures! Durr!) Dona slept in late today but was alert and conversational when she woke up around noon.

I will continue to post updates so please check back.
