Dolores’s Story

We feel it is time to update everyone on the health of Dolores. 

Dolores has been living at the Magnolia of Millbrae for the past seven years.  She has had a lot of ups and downs both physically and mentally throughout the past few years.   Unfortunately, in the past month she has had some major intestinal issues, and has been declining quickly.   Dolores  was admitted into Peninsula Hospital on Christmas day and has been sleeping most of the time.   She was transported back to her apartment January 6th and is resting comfortably.  We have started  hospice and have 24 hour private aides with her at all times.  Thankfully Rick is able to visit Dolores daily in her apartment with full ppe.  She has told us she loves us and has even smiled a few times.   It brought her much joy on a FaceTime call with Joe, Holly, Pascal and Maxine.  I will keep you updated in the days to come.  For updates please follow us on her page (Dolores Togneri Chappell) from the CaringBridge.org website and share your stories from the past.  We’d love to hear them.

Dolores Togneri Chappell

1934 – 2021

It’s with a heavy heart we announce the passing of our Mother today.

Dolores was from a generation of Italian-Americans in the SF Bay Area who grew up 

bridging the gap between both cultures. Her family came to America at the turn

 of the century from the Liguria region in search of freedom and opportunity. 

Dolores guided her life with that same spirit of adventure and independence and 

today we reflect upon that journey and celebrate her life in our memories forever.
