Journal entry by Nancy Porter-Gomoll —
Mom's surgery went very well, we have received lots of good news from her doctors and lab results and she is healing well from her Lumpectomy. Since she decided to have the Lumpectomy instead of a Mastectomy she will have to have daily radiation treatments for three weeks, we addres not sure yet when those will start but we will keep updated. Because her tumor tested positive for the HER2 protein she will also undergo weekly chemo and anti-biody treatments starting May 12th for 12 weeks then the anti-biody treatments will continue once every three weeks for a year. The doctor was very encouraging about the chemo as it will be a fairly mild dose with minimal side effects.
She is doing well although a little anxious, which is to be expected, but she is ready to get this started and put it all behind her A.S.A.P.
