Dianne’s Story

Site created on April 7, 2019

To our beloved family and friends-
As a family we are creating this site for our mother Dianne Rodriguez to invite you to share with us in her journey. We are in a bit of a shock but yesterday mom was diagnosed with some form of end stage cancer. We do not have a primary site as of now but will know more within a few days after a biopsy is completed so they can narrow down if it is peritoneal, colon or ovarian cancer. Please do not fret as she is in amazing spirits and although she has some discomfort it is now being managed with the help of the doctors. Her vivacious nature is keeping the nurses, staff, Cecilia and Carlos laughing. She is also experiencing some Atrial Fibrillation of which they are also doing interventions to avoid additional complications. Mom is currently in Methodist Hospital for the next few days to help further diagnose and develop a treatment plan that suits her wishes and desires. She is not looking for any aggressive measures but will entertain conservative and comfort measures as they become available. At this time we wanted to be able to communicate quickly so prayers, encouraging words of support and connnection can happen. She is not wanting visitors at this time. She will only be in the hospital for a short time as her oncology and palliative care consults are completed. All 4 of us siblings will be home in Minnesota together in just a week and a half to share in Easter, mom's 83rd Birthday and to celebrate support of her as a family. Our gratitude for God's grace to have planned this time together prior to all this news is just testimony of how good our God is. Please know as we receive additional information we will update this site as our primary means of communicating. Please we encourage you to send messages, pictures and loving prayers of hope and grace as you are so called.

I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me...Phillipians 4:13

With loving gratitude-

Newest Update

Journal entry by Cecilia Glenn

It's been a month since mom passed and though the tears still occassionally flow, life continues to move ahead. Family is trickling in from out of state for mom's celebration of life service and soon we'll be laughing and crying over old pictures and baking mom's favorite cookies to share with others at the luncheon.  And of course there may be a game of Skippo, yahtze or cribbage in the mix too!

Since it's been a while since we first posted the details, we thought it would be helpful to send a reminder. As a family, the question has come up on what to wear. Mom didn't always match, she loved bright colors and liked to be comfortable so we're going to take her lead. Wear whatever makes you comfortable...we aren't a super formal bunch so if you don't feel like wearing a suit or dress...don't. If you do, that's fine too! We'll just be happy to see you there!!

A Celebration of Life service will take place on
Monday, September 23, 2019, with visitation at 10:00 am and service at 11:00 am at Edina Community Lutheran Church 4113 W 54th Street, Edina (952-926-3808). Luncheon to follow. Memorial donations preferred to Park Nicollet/Methodist Hospice Care.
