Diane’s Story

Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting.
A few months ago I was diagnosed with a muscle weakness called necrotizing myopathy, even sounds nasty doesn’t it? You can look it up but basically the cells in muscles start dying causing weakness. I can walk but with difficulty, I have trouble lifting my legs (I need to assist with hands to get into car) and I cannot go up stairs without pulling on arm rails. But it’s doable. Once that was diagnosed (it took a couple neurologist plus a neurosurgeon to do muscle biopsy) we had a plan to start immunosuppressant infusion therapy but neuro said she wanted to rule out “associated cancers” with CT of abd and chest. More tests, and biopsies show ovarian cancer.  Tomorrow I have "big"abdominal surgery  to remove as many spots as possible. Then a couple weeks recovery before starting chemo x 4 months.  I'm sure my kids will update this tomorrow evening after we know what surgery showed. Thank you all in advance for prayers and positive thoughts.
