Newest Update

Journal entry by Diana Redington

Hello Family and Friends -

Thank you all for your continued love and support! I know I have not been great about updating this site! Wanted to give an official update. As of November 22nd I am finished my monthly chemo treatments!  I had started to write an entry for the site but I kept stating "last treatment" and the reality is that down the road if my scans come back that the tumor is growing then I may need to go back on chemo... or try another option depending on the circumstances.

However as far as the planned treatment goes I've completed the 12 rounds of chemo and achieving the results we want to see. Everything is stable. This means the 33 proton treatments last year with low dose of chemo, followed by monthly chemo. Since January I was taking the pill form of chemo 5 days in a row, followed by 23 days "off". The chemo was still working its way through my system so mostly would have a delayed effect... so the "off" time was not exactly "off". This did mean I would take a couple days here and there but I have been able to continue to work full time.

Since my last round ended on 11/22, tomorrow (12/16) would be the start of my next monthly round. This is the first time I'm not taking chemo since I started on January 15th!! Wow! That's crazy. I was telling my oncologist I was surprised I was handling it as well as I was... still working and going about my daily activities for the most part. She told me that I may notice once I'm off chemo for a few months I'll get back energy I just learned to function without. That was a good reminder cause I did forget about my struggles throughout the year, and some days be better than others but that it was touch to be tired most of the time.

I've had such awesome support from my family, work family and friends that are essentially family.

Shout out to all the wonderful women (and Victoria's husband Alex) for packing about 20 people into a small sushi bar to surprise me to celebrate my birthday and last chemo treatment. My birthday fell on Thanksgiving this year. I don't think that is a coincidence. I think that was God reminding me I have so much to be thankful for. All the love and support that has been flooded my way. And all the care I have received to get diagnosed and treated so quickly.

I am thankful for my prognosis and for all the men and women that have gone before me with this diagnosis. To learn what works and how to keep pushing on. I am grateful to everyone who has supported me and I appreciate people sharing with me that my journey is helping them too.

Love and Thanks to All!!

PS Added my "Hair Journey" pictures. :)
