Journal entry by Lisa Leftwich —
Friends -- This is Devin's wife Lisa. Unfortunately I need to share that he passed away the afternoon of Monday, August 22, comfortably at home and with family. It's inconceivable to think that Devin is no longer with us, but as one of the kids said, I'm glad he's no longer in pain. Also, to be absent from the body is to be present with God -- I can almost hear him shouting "Thank you Jesus!" and worshiping at the throne.
In reading his last post, I'm struck by the level of activity and positivity he had less than a month ago. His journey over the last 18 months was an arduous one, nonetheless he took every opportunity to live abundantly to the end, connecting with loved ones and doing the things he loved. He was an amazing, exceptional man, and we will miss him dearly but thank God for the privilege of knowing and loving him.
And thank you for all the prayers, encouraging comments, and other expressions of love. I can't tell you how much they've meant to Devin and our family. We are grateful to be part of this faith community.
