Derek’s Story

Site created on September 16, 2018

Our thanks to Dr Heisel at IU Saxony Hospital who identified a specific health concern last Tuesday in Sept 2018 which needed the involvement of a hematologist. His recommendation led us immediately to the Simon Cancer Center at IU University Hospital.

By Friday Sept 14th,  Dr Sayar and his team diagnosed that Derek had AML Acute Leukemia.

Psalm 139 says, “Wherever I might go, Lord, you are there. If I climb to the sky, you are there. If I flew on morning’s wings to the horizon, you are already there waiting.” So we meet you there, Lord! We meet you in the neighborhoods, the villages, and the city streets to share your truth and love. Thank you, Lord, for meeting us daily!

Derek’s fb post today. This the season for Thanksgiving and we have much to be thankful for. Dr Schwartz today continues seeing Dereks health doing very well. He received his last round of “baby shots” today.
So his arms are pretty sore tonight. Remember how your little ones reacted after all these pokings!!
Thanksgiving will be by Zoom this year. Not what we wanted, but what we will do, so we can share festive food and special desserts and more especially the beautiful faces of family.
May you all have a blessed time. We are so thankful for your prayers and support.
