Just prior to my run today, I received a call from my father, and he almost started to cry when he told me the news. It is with heavy heart I share that my father tested positive for COVID today. If you read my social media posts, you know my father is in a nursing facility currently experiencing a COVID outbreak. I know of one death to date but know there are others that are very sick, some going to the hospital, and others putting up a good fight. Please keep them all and their healthcare workers in your prayers.
This news could not come at a sadder time as today would have been my mother’s birthday. She passed away in May as a result of cancer but we could not be with her like we should have and her care was delayed due to COVID.
I spoke with the doctor today and while many at the facility received the vaccine, it wasn’t soon enough. It takes several weeks for the immunities to build. Supply is simply not meeting the demand of the disease.
I have many other things I would like to say but, for right now, I ask for thoughts and prayers.
