Dennis’s Story

Site created on February 12, 2020

One year and 26 days ago God cured Dennis's wife Pat in heaven. She had fought Pancreatic cancer,  just when we thought we had rid our house of cancer..it hit our family again. Last Monday Dennis (Dad to me) had a biopsy on a mass on the side of his neck. This week on Tuesday we meet with an ENT Oncologist.  The oncologist told us that Dad has Anaplastic Thyroid Carcinoma,  this is an agressive fast growing cancer. We were and still are in shock. There's no cure, the cancer has invaded his jugular inside and out. The cancer is wrapped around his curradid artery and has grown into the cartilage around his voice box and paralyzed some of the nerves in his voice box. We were tild chemo works on 5% of patients, Dad is going to start chemo this next week, the chemo could give us more time. We are told he has months, a year at best. My Sister Kelly and I will update you all on his treatments and journey, right now we ask for prayers.

It's so hard to believe Dad has been with Mom for 5 months now. Thanksgiving giving was tough, but we know Christmas will be hard. Dad loved his spending time with his grandkids. He would get a big smile on his face when the kids called him Papa. Every Christmas the kids would get him the same thing, well the only things he'd ask for..chocolate covered raisins, socks and a t-shirt with a pocket in the front.
I know this will be hard, this year both Mom and Dad in heaven. Hold your loved ones close, life is very short and fragile.
Grace and peace
