Dennie’s Story

Site created on April 20, 2020

Many of you know that Dennie has been sick this last month in AZ. He sure has been on a roller coaster ride, but has been a trooper!

So far Dennie has been experiencing fluid on his belly, discomfort and pain. Fluid build up is what gave him the feeling that something was going on. He’s been to the ER and has spent a week in the hospital. At first the ER doctor thought that Dennie may have something wrong with his liver. When he was in the hospital, there were some cancer cells that showed up in the fluid drained off of his belly. An endoscopy also showed a tumor and some ulcers in his esophagus. Joe and Pam drove down to AZ to help bring Dee and Dennie back home to Colorado. Dennie has doctor appointments set up in Colorado for the week of April 20.

Please check back here for updates under Journal posts. We appreciate your caring love and support! It means so much to our family. At this time we ask that you please keep texting and phone calls to a minimum. You can explore Dennie’s CaringBridge page and leave him a note and find pictures. Your thoughts and prayers are needed now as Dennie and Dee fight this fight. We love all of our amazing family and friends!!

Journal entry by Pam Anderson

October 2, we were able to hold Dennie’s Military Honors at Pikes Peak National Cemetery.  We were only allowed 25 people to attend, but we made it work with a few extras.  Our lovely Lanae videoed the ceremony and added it to YouTube so it is a available for anyone to watch.  Please watch it and share it with whoever you’d like to share it with.  It had been pretty heartbreaking for Mom, Dee not to have had the funeral service that Dennie deserved.  All we could do is the best we could given Covid circumstances. Please join us in celebrating Dennie’s life!
A very special thanks again to Pastor Scotty Vaughn from Church on the Ranch for being there with us and officiating a short service.

Remember that we welcome visits and phone calls, please stay in touch.  Your friendships/relationships and love mean so much to our family.  We all share many memories over the years of Dennie, always our common thread.  He was loved by everyone that knew him.
We are asking for special prayers for Dennie’s brother, Orval and our family. Orval has decided to enter into hospice this week. His 15 year battle with cancer is nearing an end.
Our love and blessings to everyone,
With love,
The Rawson, Sivigny and Anderson families
