Journal entry by Kimberly Rowe —
2 weeks ago today, my mom was told that her treatment for Pancreatic Cancer would end, and that she should contact Hospice. It was far too aggressive and there was nothing more that could be done without making her far more miserable, and with no guarantee for extending her life much. She was told 3-6 months.
Unfortunately that was a bit of an optimistic projection as the cancer has progressed far faster than anyone imagined. On Monday she took a dramatic turn for the worse and was admitted to the care of the Lehigh Hospice House. They have her nausea and pain under control and she is resting much more comfortably. We hope to bring her home again once she is consistently comfortable.
On Tuesday, she and Larry celebrated their 25th anniversary. It was a bittersweet one for sure as he sat with her all day as she slept most of the time, but finally peacefully.
We continue to share with her the comments left here, and on facebook, as well as all the cards and flowers and other gestures you have all sent. It brings a lovely smile to her face. Thank you for that.
