Denise’s Story

Site created on April 14, 2021

March 18, 2021: Denise was diagnosed with a rare, aggressive cancer with a baseball size tumor.  It has been a whirlwind of second opinions, biopsies, and doctor appointments ever since.

April 27, 2021: Denise underwent a “radical eviction” of her malignant tumor and surrounding tissue. Her oncology team will further analyze the tissue and tumor before finalizing her diagnosis, prognosis, and treatment plan in the coming weeks.

Thanks for loving her and our family. We have been humbled and honored to watch each of you return to her the love, time a prayers and generosity she’s invested in so many.

She has quite a journey ahead of her, and we are so thankful you are joining us as we cheer her along.

Journal entry by Amanda Soderberg

Mom’s chemo started out rocky today. We arrived a little before 7am. Mom’s first nurse wasn’t able to get a good IV (she was a digger 😕). Finally the third stick (with a new nurse) worked.

We sailed through the pre-chemo meds and started chemo a full hour sooner than at her last visit.

Mom got a bit woozy and her legs were jumpy from the Benadryl, but NO REACTIONS.

Mom napped a bit, ate well, she got a massage and we even played with some Snapchat filters.

All in all, it was a good day. We had fun together, which always makes the hours go by quickly. Proud of momma.
