Journal entry by Denise Callaway

August  2018 was to be my annual mammogram and ultrasound at Milgard Breast Clinic. It was a follow up on what I had been told was most likely a ganglion cyst. As the technician finished her exam she moved toward the door and said "I am going to bring the doctor in to see you." What he had to say next was not what I was expecting. "The tissue has changed and a lymph node looks suspicious. I am scheduling you for three biopsies asap."What a rollercoaster this has been, its been hard to process. How can this be. I received a call from my doctor after the biopsy and he confirmed the diagnosis, breast cancer. Two different aggressive breast cancers. Triple Negative and Her2 positive. After alot of thought and prayer I decided to move forward with treatment at SCCA. I started treatment on Saturday and did good. I awoke Sunday morning and felt amazing, and couldn't wait to get to church and praise God. Monday I was a little more fatigued and by Tuesday I started having unpleasant side effects. I am grateful for the prayers, I do feel them. I also feel peace and confidence that God will sustain me through this season. He has never failed me.
