Journal entry by Andrea Twigg

Recovery day #3, day 5 at Helen DeVos.

More milestones for Miss Delaney. She took a shower, walked 4/5 laps around the whole 7th floor, removed her pacing wires, Echo, removed the last IV (she just has the picc line we came in with), & had 6 visitors today. The x-ray this morning showed improvement of the left lung, but the right lung showed a bit of a collapse. She has 4/5 goals to accomplish before she can be discharged; (1) Keeping her oxygen level to a consistent 95% or above. While resting it fluctuates from the high 80’s to low 90’s. When she’s up & walking, it dips into the 70’s & they have to put oxygen on her. (2) Full function in both lungs. This kind of ties with #1. (3) Getting & keeping her blood pressure down. (4) Eating! The girl won’t eat. We are bribing her with anything under the sun. (5) Pooping, they won’t let her leave until she poops. Again, kind of goes with #4.

She has been removed from ICU status, but didn’t move rooms because there wasn’t one available until early evening. Slow & steady!
