Sandy’s Story

Site created on June 23, 2019

Welcome to Sandy's  CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place.

*Please note that ANY donation requests for the sight/sponsorship  that may appear/pop-up are not supported, requested or needed by the family.

In early June, Sandy was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia.

As all of you well know, Sandy's energy level, health, spirit and appetite have always been extremely robust!  In the weeks leading up to her diagnosis, she had been experiencing all sorts of health problems, declining weight, and overwhelming fatigue.  After countless tests, doctors and a hospitalization with no significant improvement or cause, we were incredibly worried and frustrated.  Finally receiving a diagnosis, while not at all an easy one, has given us something to fight!

Fortunately, a new low intensive chemotherapy treatment for cases like hers was recently approved in November.  It consists of a 5 days of IV infusions/month, which can be done as an outpatient, along with a daily tablet.  She has had  a port placed in preparation the treatment which begins tomorrow, Monday, June 24.

Anyone who has met Sandy knows - within the first 15 minutes of chatting with her - what her priorities are;  FAITH; FAMILY; FRIENDS; and FUN.  To that end,  we are so incredibly grateful for your prayers, support and words of hope and encouragement.

 Thank you for visiting!

As she and Vic identify areas where help is needed, we will post  them on the "ways to help" tab  for easy coordination.  Check-if you would like to sign-up,.

With love and thanks -

Gary, Debra, Annette, Vickie, Toni and Nick

Newest Update

Journal entry by Vickie Figueroa

Hi everyone, Mom starts her 5 days of chemo infusion today and is in great spirits. So much has changed for the better. All her lab work came back great, so no infusions or transfusions! Mom is is feeling much better than she was and seems to be her old self again. She's eating now and we couldn't be happier. All those prayers are so much appreciated!
Will keep you posted as the week progresses. Thank you again for all the love and support ❤️
