This is Meredith. I wanted to give a quick update on how Debbie is doing.
She is doing fantastic!!! She met with a cardiologist yesterday, he said her heart looks amazing. She is still battling a bit of high blood pressure, but is currently on medication for that.
Debbie impressed everyone with how quick she breezed through the recovery process. When she first came home from the hospital, she used the walker for only about a week or two - the doctors estimated she would need it for close to 2 months. Even when she had the walker, she was taking laps around the neighborhood, quite literally. She continued to get stronger each day, she was back to full and regular mobility within about a month. A MONTH! Isn't that wild?
Debbie is the strongest person that I know! She is doing wonderfully post-surgery. She is thriving with a newly single kidney more than most people do with two!
Thank you all for your thoughts, prayers, meals, help, or simply words of encouragement. Though the thick of it is over, Mom is still dealing with emotional effects of it all, understandably so. If you're reading this, be sure to text her how wonderful she is! Even though we all know she's basically the best and strongest person ever, I am sure a reminder would be very appreciated by her.
My mother was already my role model, and 2022 just reinforced that belief. I have always admired how she is able to keep positive during dark times. She is resilient and a light in everyone's lives. I am so lucky to have her as my mom!
A very special thank you to Aileen Lawrimore, who flew in the day after surgery and stayed 24/7 with Deb for nearly a week. She was our rock during that time, we can never thank her enough for being such a wonderful and selfless person. She is absolutely the best!!!
If you have any lingering questions, concerns, or any Deb-related questions, message me! Here are some recent pictures of Deb and her family.
Thank you all for your support!
