Journal

It has been a long while since I wrote or updated. I have been so grateful for the stability with my heath. I was able to spend quality time with my family. I did projects with my adult children. I went out to lunch with a friend and I even went to see season 4 of the Chosen in the theater. We joined Costco and I had a foot long hotdog and soda for $1.50!  I tended to my plants indoors and enjoyed the warmer days that we had. It has been so nice to absorb some stronger days.
I am currently fighting an infection that has been very fatiguing. I saw my infectious disease doctor yesterday and they started me on a new oral antibiotic. This bacteria is different from the resistant strain so I’m hoping the medicine will kick it.
Last month while I was at my infusion with Emily, Geoff and Britt were at work, and Jennifer was home alone for a short period. Jenn was expecting her aide and decided to light an old candle. Because of my oxygen use in the home, we don’t light candles, but this candle was sitting on a shelf by our sink. She lit the candle and decided to go upstairs. She heard the fire alarm and when she came down, the curtains were engulfed with flames.. She responded quickly and took her phone outside and called 911.  The damage was contained to the window and our cabinets. I thank God every day that Jennifer is ok and that the rapid response contained it. I needed to file a claim and the cabinet contents have all been boxed up and we have been awaiting on the final decisions from insurance to decide what will be covered and what decisions we need to make. Until then we have been living more simplified in our kitchen with less stuff and it’s easier to manage. When the time comes to put the kitchen back together, we are going to try to get rid of things we no longer need or duplicate items. We are trying to catch up on needed repairs and it all adds up. We hope to replace our spouting, get a few new windows and some bathroom repairs. We had the plumber here yesterday so we are trying to proceed step by step, like any home owner. I’m grateful that despite all these steps that need to be done, we are building up trust with reputable businesses. The place that took care of the restoration of our basement is also doing our fire clean up etc.
Please join me in prayer for Geoff. He is going through highs and lows and struggling emotionally and spiritually. Together we are trying to get him help and evaluation to see what may be underlying these changes. He is looking forward to giving a talk at a retreat next month. I’m hopeful that he begins having better days ahead.
In my small group that I facilitate, we are doing an in-depth, verse by verse, study of 1,2 Thessalonians since January. It has been a great study for the times we are living in presently and the hopeful perspective we can have eternally.  I’ve also felt the ways that this church, along with Paul, Timothy etc. have persevered through obstacles and persecution. That is so applicable to us and our circumstances. The name for hope is Jesus.
I just wanted to update and see how you have been doing. Feel free to message me or comment here. Please also let me know if I can pray for you?
