Debby, your comment about the definition of mercy is something to remember. I think the well known definition ("Grace is getting the good we don't deserve and mercy is not getting the bad we DO deserve") can surely be handy. BUT it can also be a focus too much on "what we deserve" rather than on God's enormous goodness in His essence. Interesting.

This year I myself have needed to focus more and more on the essence of Who God is...and, therefore, what He cannot be. God HAS to be overarchingly GOOD or we all are REALLY sunk!!

Thank you for the postal card AND the electronic one here. Just a few days ago I needed to grant myself a reprieve and realize that I would not be sending our Christmas cards in the mail! One got sent - and only one!

Thank you for modeling and sharing how all of this plays out in your busy household - to "In everything give thanks." Since God MUST be good, our "not seeing good" means it is our limited vision and understanding, not a lack of goodness in our God. That provides security and comfort, for sure.

"Strength for today and bright hope for tomorrow, great is THY faithfulness, Lord unto me"...and thee! :)

Love, Nell

Debby. Again, your words touch me so deeply. I loved this..."BUT in God’s mercy He GIVES, HE for-GIVES. Instead, He-SERVES what I, Debby, do not deserve such mercy and grace." I'll remember that! Debby...I want to take the photo where you all are sitting (Geoff on the left) and place it where I can always see it. Can you tell me which girls are which? I think Jennifer is next? I love you and your family so much. You are my inspiration. I'm so glad this year was better and I'll continue to pray for all of you. Hugs and love, Linda Hoenigsberg
