Debbie’s Story

Site created on March 4, 2019

Debbie was diagnosed with triple negative breast cancer in June of 2017. After extensive treatment, radiation and surgery March 2018 brought the news everyone was excited to hear, clear margins! Unfortunately, this good news did not last long and 3 short months later her breast cancer returned and had spread to the skin. Debbie has undergone multiple chemos therapy treatments and recently recieved a clinical trial which both unfortunately did not have success. She will now embark on a new treatment this week and we are hoping that this one will slow the progression and finally get her back to a good quality of life. The love, prayers and support we have recieved have meant so much to Debbie and her family. We hope the website will continue to keep our loved ones up to date! Much love to you all!

Newest Update

Journal entry by Jessica Barnett

Today was chemo day! After 5 weeks of resting and refueling, Debbie finally had the blood levels she needed to start her new chemo. We are told that this chemo has some of the same side effects as the others she has tried, but not as severe as this last one she was on. We are hoping the side effects are minimal and that this chemo is the one that finally slows the progression down. Debbie also received a blood transfusion today just to help keep her levels up. April 1st is her next follow up with her doctor. Debbie will return to work this week after being off the week prior. I am not sure how she does it, but she has been doing it throughout this whole journey. This week she made the difficult decision to start part time. Going to Atlanta 5 days a week was too draining on her and her body really needs all its strength to continue to fight this battle. She and P-nut have been so grateful for all the wonderful meals everyone has brought via her meal train! I mean let’s face it, as much as Pnut tries his cooking will never compare to Debbies 😂. Having meals provided has been a huge stress relief and they are beyond grateful. Last Sunday the majority of the grandkids, and all of Debbie’s kids all came over and cleaned the house and redecorated for her! I’m sure she wanted to kick our butts as we showed up and took over the place, but I must say her new beach themed sunroom is my new favorite spot in the house. We have lots to look forward to and to be grateful for! Thank you everyone for your continued thoughts, prayers, meals and  kind gestures. You have definitely made Debbie never feel alone during this journey! Love to you all
