Debbie’s Story

Site created on August 24, 2020

Welcome to my caring bridge site. I know there are others floating around but this one I just started August 24, 2020, and so it's the most recent one. I have Ehlers-Danlos syndrome Type 3  with complications of autism spectrum disorder, bipolar disorder, OCD, anxiety as well as polycystic ovarian syndrome and asthma.

Journal entry by Debbie King

I haven’t posted anything about this as of yet, because I was sort of waiting for answers and today I got at least one answer. Starting on Thursday night I could not keep my balance and within a span of 24 hours, I fell 5 times, once down the stairs. On Friday night we had to call the paramedics because I’ve fallen and I can’t get up. I haven’t tripped over anything, just lost my balance and coordination. Now those of you with medical knowledge know that this can be about 1000 different things, so I’m not worrying until it’s time to worry. I saw the nurse practitioner at my orthopedist and he noticed a slew of injuries including deep contusions, strained muscles, and a bruise to the head of my femur. To give an idea, I have essentially sustained injuries comparable to a pretty decent car crash. I did go to the chiropractor today and when he adjusted my neck, he said I had a pretty severe subluxation between my occipital bone in my C1 vertebra. Essentially, I had dislocated my head. The only thing with that, despite it being an easy fix, is that we don’t know if that was the cause of my problems, or if that was due to hitting my head. He’s been working on my spine for I think six years and he said today that this was the worst cervical subluxation I’ve ever had. I have a doctors appointment on Thursday with my PCP to hopefully rule out some things and get a plan of action. I will keep you posted, and as always please mention me to the deity of your choice.
