Debbie’s Story

Site created on July 28, 2018

Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your prayers!

Debbie has multiple fast-growing tumors that  are causing pain and preventing her from her usual activities. She is no longer working at Avera Mother Joseph Manor. She is officially in Hospice Care.

Debbie’s greatest challenge from the cancer (at the moment) is pain caused by the enlargment of the tumors. She also has extreme heartburn.  She has not eaten a “normal meal” in several weeks. She does not have the physical sensation of hunger, yet seems to  tolerate popsicles and ice chips at times.

She does not tolerate pain medicine very well (this is not new-she has always been sensitive to medicine & gets nauseous from it) but her nurses have been able to control her pain with Torodal and a pain patch.

She spends much of her time resting in her comfortable recliner with her golden doodle, Lucy, in her lap :) She has had many visitors, received many soul-touching letters, and is spritually at peace during this turmultuious time.
