DeAnna’s Story

Site created on June 21, 2019

Welcome to DeAnna's Tribe. To know DeAnna is to love her! She won't be walking through this journey alone.

DeAnna has specifically requested support by way of healthy meals for her family during her recovery.  Thank you for your love and generosity following her surgery in July!  The family would greatly appreciate your continued support as DeAnna goes through 13 weeks of chemotherapy.

Newest Update

Journal entry by DeAnna Sohn

I AM DONE WITH CHEMO!!!  It has been a little while since I have posted an update, but I am over the moon to share with you that I completed my chemotherapy on Monday!!! 🙌 🙌  I am attaching a picture of my "graduation" and bell ringing.  I still have some work to do, but according to my doctor, I have completed the hardest parts of my treatment plan. 🙏

There is no way on earth that I could have gotten this far without the grace of God and the blessings of my friends and family.  There were many good days, many not so good days, a few days I can't remember and many moments that I will never forget.  I am still processing the depth of it all and am immensely amazed by the generosity and kindness of the people around me.  It's humbling to say the least.

I went back to work in September and it has been going well.  i had to take a week off somewhere in the middle to let my body catch up, but have been able to get back into the groove.... again, thanks to many people around me being awesome!

My treatment plan slowed me down for sure, but it didn't stop me from engaging in all of the things that are important to me.  The summer is a bit of a blur, but I was able to volunteer quite a bit and spend lots of time with my children, as they shuttled me around and took care of me.  My husband is a freaking rockstar!!  He makes sure I do everything that I am supposed to and has taken care of our family like some sort of superhero!

My hair is starting to grow back and I can't wait to see what it comes in like.  As long as it comes back, I guess I really don't care!  I hear that it often grows back curly, which will be new, but again..... as long as I get something, I will take it! I also have full range of motion in my arm, which is huge.  That has been a lot of work, but rewards are being reaped.

It is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, so we have done some special things at the football games.  My sweet husband lit up our logo in pink and the sweet cheerleaders put my initials on the pink out game banner as a subtle shout out-- I saw it 😍!  We started a Chain of Honor to allow guests to recognize loved ones and to bring awareness for all cancer, as well as the benefits of routine screenings that can help with early detection.  So I will take this opportunity to remind all of you that early detection saves lives and ask that you schedule any screenings that you may have due!

Thank you for your continued prayer!  The Sohn family appreciates it more than you could ever know!  All glory and praise to my Savior!

Blessings~
DeAnna

PS..... the football team is 7-0!  :-)
