David’s Story

Site created on June 30, 2018

On Tuesday June 26th, 2018 our lives were changed forever. David was diagnosed with Ewing's sarcoma. A rare and aggressive cancer in his sinuses. He found this cancer from a simple nose bleed. He went to MedExpress and then the ENT and days later they were removing a tumor from his sinuses.

We are about to embark on a very difficult journey, but we are strong and we WILL BEAT CANCER.  Thank you for your love and support, we are so thankful for each and everyone of you. We WILL beat this as we have family, friends, love and GOD on our side! COBBSTRONG

Journal entry by Alison Cobb

We are officially half way done with chemo! David has successfully completed 8 out of 16 rounds! As we knew going into this, chemotherapy is accumulative and it gets more and more difficult each round.

The hair has been long gone.... who cares. The lethargy is really starting to kick in and it takes a little longer to bounce back after each infusion. He has been going to bed around 7pm and it seems to really be helping him keep his energy up throughout the day. He's started to have extremely painful spasms in his hips and chest, but thankfully there is medication to help reduce the pain. His neuropothy is kicking in, (this is where he can't feel the tips of his fingers) but he can still hold a pen/pencil and type, so we can't really complain! His levels have been pretty good after all of his infusions except for the the neutropenia that he experienced over Christmas. He was hospitalized for four days then, but he bounced back and is doing pretty darn well and has been kicking @$$ ever since.

As many of you know, David lost his father on January 17th. This has been a very difficult time for David and his family has his daddy was so important to him. They were very close and he was an integral part of Davids battle against cancer. Please pray for him and feel free to reach out to him to let him know that you care and you are there for him. Its been a very hard time for David emotionally and mentally. We know that his father would want us to push on and push harder, and that is exactly what we are going to do.

Now for the best part. HE WON PRESIDENTS CLUB.  Seriously?! First of all it is a miracle that he can even work with cancer! Not only is he working, but he is working full time and whole heartedly. His determination, perseverance and character is really coming through as he WON PRESIDENTS CLUB! As a result, his company is flying him to Punta Cana for a relaxing get a way. He deserves this so much, it literally brings tears to my eyes just typing this. No, I won't be going, I will be staying home with the kids. This is David's time to relax, reflect and renew. This guy is not only amazing, but he is my role model and my super hero. I am so proud and honored to be his wife and know that he is going to CRUSH cancer just like he crushes everything else in life.

Our church has been absolutely amazing and started a meal train for us back in January. They have been delivering the most delicious meals EVER to us every week and have the entire train filled through March! They asked me to add more dates because more people want to help our family. Its so heartwarming to know that people are here to help us through this battle and we are not alone. We are forever grateful and I know we do not show enough gratitude, but we truly are so appreciative.

Thank you all for following our journey. All the love! #DCOBBSTRONG
