Dawn’s Story

Site created on May 29, 2019

Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting. My mom story begins in 1987 when she had a surgery to remove a grapefruit-sized cyst from her ovary. During that surgery she was giving plasma and it was not discovered until 2003 that that plasma was tainted or infected with hepatitis c. The liver damage had already been done and her illness progressed as they tried to find treatments to cure the hepatitis c. fast-forwarding several years later they did find a cure to hepatitis c and she is now hepatitis c free. However the liver damage is far too extensive for it to heal itself and it has moved on to damaging her spleen and also having problems with her esophagus.

Newest Update

Journal entry by Jamie Leech Kelly

The latest update on my mom. She had her 6-month checkup yesterday in Rochester with her liver doctor and her transplant team. She is becoming weaker and at some point she will be too weak to even be able to survive a transplant. So that means it is very very important that we searched and search and ask and get the word out about her need for a live liver donor.
