Newest Update

Journal entry by Dawn Gauthier

Well it's been a hot minute since I updated anything.  I know if I don't,  I will forget and not be able to remember all the things/dates down the road.  The past month has felt like all I have done is appointments (though not all for cancer related stuff, and some for work).

April 6th I had another heart scan.  It did show that I did have a drop in my heart function from my herceptin treatments,  and was given a few restrictions, but all is still good 👍  and I only have 5 treatments left!

Friday May 14th I had another bone scan done to check the spots on my ribs that my doctors were concerned about, and had a phone call appointment with my oncologist today.  Woot woot,  good news!  My bone scan came back looking good and after consulting with his team, they DO NOT think that the spots on my ribs are cancer related, and said that we no longer need to do follow up scans for it.  Yay!

There has been one minor hiccup.   A couple months ago I developed a thickened patch of skin on my left side, a few inches under where my incision was.  What I had assumed was the buildup of fluid just migrating downwards,  but had the realization over this past weekend that the patch of skin looks very similar (but not as red) as what the thickened patch of skin did that was on my breast when I first noticed my symptoms.  I mentioned it to the oncologist today, and he wanted a biopsy of it done ASAP just to rule out cancer again.  Since I had Inflammatory cancer which is a cancer of the lymphatic system,  there is the possibility that it could have spread.  He asked that I make an appointment with my surgeon or family doctor, whichever was quicker, and I now have an appointment with my surgeon tomorrow morning at 930am for the biopsy to be done.

They did also find some new inflammation in my left hip bone and said to make an appointment with my family doctor for pain relief and anti-inflammatory meds.

Aside from that, I am doing good and all healed up.  Loving getting out of the house and working full time again.
