Journal entry by Dawn Combs —
On June 24 I went to er with severe abdomen pain which I had been having for past 6 to 7 months. They did blood and urin test and things came back ok. The doctor then decided to do a catskan of my abdomen . He came back in later with that look on his face and told me he had bad news for me. The news was I had a mass on my pancreas which he believed was cancer and lesions on my liver and a spot on my right kidney...He told me I can admit you tonight so they can get a biopsy of your liver and find out if it's cancer. I chose to be admitted and on Monday they did the biopsy of my liver, I waited for results which they came in on Tuesday afternoon to tell me results, which were I have stage 4 pancreas cancer that has spread to my liver and other organs near by. I asked questions but was given very little hope, since was told they can't operate , all they can do is try slow it down. I tryed taking all this information in which I'm still can't believe is happening. On Thursday they took me down to radelogy and put a kemo port in my right side above breast and in my neck under my ear so I can start taking kemo therapy. This is one week of my life that has changed my life and loved ones forever. I went from working full time to not being able to work at all , I'm overwhelmed and lost.
