Journal entry by David White —
The endocrinologist walked into the room, smiled and said, "I have good news, it's benign." I think she heard Cathy and I both exhale because she said "were you expecting something else?" One of us said, "well, the possibility was certainly there." Her response was "well, I told you most of these are benign." I told her "yeah, the ENT said that about a parotid tumor, the dermatologist said that about a pink nodule on my arm ..... we've heard that one before." She told us she understood.
It's a genuine relief, yet seems somewhat anticlimactic at the same time. Walking that line between being cavalier and overreacting. The doctor did say it was a good thing that I pursued things as soon as I did yet in the same conversation suggested there was really nothing to be concerned about. Hindsight is 20/20. I almost asked her why we did the biopsy then!
So, followup will be annual ultrasounds to monitor things. She did say they could remove it now if I preferred, I declined.
Next we'll be off to the Vascular Surgeon.
Thank you for your prayers, and support it really does make a difference.
We're thankful to say the least. We're remembering that GOD IS IN CONTROL...
