David’s Story

Site created on April 11, 2014

Welcome to our CaringBridge site. We started this page to keep the people supporting us updated on my battle with Metastatic Melanoma.

Our journey is told in the "Journal" section of this site. It makes more sense to click that tab and read my entries in that section. They tell the story from the beginning if you read "oldest to newest."  Please go to the "Guestbook" and sign it if you haven't already, it really makes a difference for us. There's a "comment" section at the end of each Journal entry you can use.

Everyone that has prayed for us, or simply shown interest is important to us right now. It would mean a lot if you let us know you visited.  We are aware that a lot of people we haven't met are praying for us. You are welcome here, and your prayers are truly appreciated.

Thank you.

Journal entry by David White

The endocrinologist walked into the room, smiled and said, "I have good news, it's benign."  I think she heard Cathy and I both exhale because she said "were you expecting something else?"  One of us said, "well, the possibility was certainly there."  Her response was "well, I told you most of these are benign."  I told her "yeah, the ENT said that about a parotid tumor, the dermatologist said that about a pink nodule on my arm ..... we've heard that one before."  She told us she understood.

It's a genuine relief, yet seems somewhat anticlimactic at the same time.  Walking that line between being cavalier and overreacting.  The doctor did say it was a good thing that I pursued things as soon as I did yet in the same conversation suggested there was really nothing to be concerned about.  Hindsight is 20/20.  I almost asked her why we did the biopsy then!

So, followup will be annual ultrasounds to monitor things.  She did say they could remove it now if I preferred, I declined.

Next we'll be off to the Vascular Surgeon.

Thank you for your prayers, and support it really does make a difference.

We're thankful to say the least. We're remembering that GOD IS IN CONTROL...
