David and Carol, thank you for sharing this with us. It saddens us. I love the poem, "Otherwise" (one of my favorites by Jane Kenyon). In our writers group today we read that poem and prayed for you both. We won't be surprised if we see David with us again next month.

Oh, Carol--such beautiful words! You lead the way in honesty about yourself in the difficult times. I am inspired by that leadership. I'm thinking prayers and hugs for both you and David.

David and Carol, thanks for the update on David. Nancy and I continue our prayers for you both. I attended a funeral celebration for Nina Tucker (Chene’s mother - a dear woman of God who handled our field practicum at ORU for many years). I (Lanny, at age 80) decided to continue working part-time doing therapy with veterans and their families at Patriot Family Counseling Services in Broken Arrow. This has been good getting back into the therapy role sharpening the old and applying the new of therapy approaches. Having 7 grandchildren in the area also has been fun: teaching 4 of them how to ride bikes safely.

Thank you for letting us be part of your journey in this way, and for these tender and beautiful expressions of how you holding what is, has been, and is ahead. Holding you both in the Light.

The poem you posted earlier and again today is so true. Thank you for your words, they express much of what Jim and I feel as we take a similar journey. Your words are always touching and encouraging. May God continue to bless you both on this journey.

I have known the “Otherwise” poem for a long time, but it is particularly apt and poignant at this moment. Prayers continue as you face new challenges. For all of us, it could be otherwise.
