Journal entry by Tracy Schoen

The afternoon it happened we were at the Galleria.  I was about two weeks postop from my hip surgery and we were just running in for a few minutes. David's speech would not come out clearly -  I could see it in his eyes that he was scared and I know he saw it in mine.  Through a series of questions, we  decided he had the ability to drive us home...or rather, right to the hospital. All my brain was thinking  was that I wanted to be somewhere near the house because I wasn't able to drive and if I was going to cheat and drive it was going to have to be close..... so off to St. Luke's we went.

A stroke or TIA was immediately ruled out. They decided to keep him overnight for observation.
