Nancy, thank you so much for these heartfelt words, and for your kindness in letting myself, my partner, and so many others be a part of your lives, and of David's journey.
David was a boss, a mentor, but most importantly, a wise friend, and I'll always think fondly of our talks about music, literature, and other passions.
He's in my prayers, as are you and the kids - please just reach out if you need anything at all

Dear Nancy, Michael and Elizabeth,

During the time I was his MT David and I talked and laughed thru the sessions. I remember the pride and joy he felt by each of his kids accomplishments; How tickled he was that the voice on his computer could be made to sound like his voice; How excited he was to go on the cruise of his lifetime; How the limits of his body never clouded the laughter and jokes. Only a bit more than 2 years has passed and I treasure each memory of this friendship and his courage and faith. Be strong and know that he is loving you still and always.

What a beautiful memorial tribute at St. Andrew. Mike & I met David in the spring of 2019; we introduced ourselves after worship, over doughnuts, having learned about David's ALS experience at the Lenten service. We walked with him at the Phalen ALS walk and then followed his insightful, inspiring, honest, and often amusing posts. We have donated to the local ALS chapter today in his memory. We are thankful for the light and faith he shared, and only wish we had met sooner. May God bring peace to you, to Michael, and to Elizabeth as you mourn and remember your husband, your father, and a faithful servant.

Please accept my heartfelt condolences, Nancy, for you and your family. I am sorry that we never met. David and I were colleagues in the doctoral program at UNT, so many years ago. He was the great intellect in our little circle of friends, inspiring many. David was a patient teacher and I surely doubt I would have pushed on through the rigorous curriculum without his guidance. His kindness of heart stays with me to this day. Prayers for the peace of God to surround your family at this time.

Dear Nancy, Michael and Elizabeth,
I am sending you a big hug. Even when you know it’s coming and they are ready, it is still a loss to lose a loved one. David was a wonderful man and I feel lucky to have known him and follow him through this passage of life. He certainly loved you three so much. Thinking of you all as you mourn and celebrate him.
Love Catherine

It was always a brighter day when David made his way to one of my classes at Green Lotus. As the ALS progressed and made practice and communicating more challenging, he never flinched, continuing to bring that bright spirit, determination and wicked sense of humor to class. I feel lucky and blessed to know him and by extension, his wonderfully supportive family. I mentioned to him countless times what an inspiration he was in class and in his willingness to share his journey on his posts here. That inspiration will endure. Let the tears and laughter flow and may you revel in the sweet memories.
