Journal entry by Amy Delimat

Hello All,  this will be our last Caring Bridge entry as David has been given a cancer free diagnosis!!!  We received his pathology back earlier this week and told family and  a few others, but we wanted to sit with that for a few days and soak it up.

When you are told that you have cancer, it's life altering.  You and your family live from appt to appt and test to test for so long, that when you are finally told "cancer free", you are in shock, relieved, happy, and scared still as you will continue to watch for signs and symptoms of a reoccurrence.

David is healing well from his surgery last week.  His staples came out yesterday, Friday, and looks very good.  We have had one bend in the road, however, as he has another blood clot in his upper left leg.  He had been having chest pains and leg cramps Thursday and from his past other clots, we knew this was a sign.  An ultrasound yesterday confirmed what we suspected, blood clot.  Doctors are guessing the blood clot had broken off some small pieces and gone to his heart and that is why he was having chest pain, again possibly.  They are just guessing.  This just confirms that he will be on blood thinners for the rest of his life as this was his 4th time.  We will just continue to monitor as we always do.  Given everything we are in great spirits.

Our journey was 8 months long, starting on June 12th.  While there is still healing to be done, we are lucky.  Others with cancer suffer longer, even years, and some never get the badge of Cancer Survivor.  For those people our hearts break.

We want to thank EVERYONE that has been by our side throughout this, too many to name, but you know who you are.  You all hold a special place in our hearts and lives.  Most of all we want to praise the Lord in guiding us, standing by us, strengthening our faith in Him and bringing those special people into our lives to help us through.  We love you All!  David, Amy, & Sam Delimat
