On Saturday, March 7, David got the call that a liver was available for him and he was to report to the liver transplant hospital in San Antonio.  The match was confirmed and his transplant occurred on the next morning, Sunday, March 8.  Liver transplants are one of the most complex transplants, yet have one of the highest success rates, so we remain very optimistic.  The surgery was successful and David has been recovering very well.  However, as with any extensive hospitalization, David and his family are facing large medical bills, living expenses being in San Antonio, and are in need of some help to get him home.  On March 16, David is scheduled to be discharged from the hospital, but will have to remain in San Antonio close to doctors in a hotel for approximately three weeks.
