Journal entry by David MacMillan

I forgot all about caring bridge!

David is now in remission for the 4th time! It had spread to his lymph nodes, stomach, and a kidney. They started him on Keytruda about 3 years ago and he got a clean scan a year and a half ago.  Because Merkel Cell Carcinoma is so aggressive he will be on Keytruda the rest of his life.

Normally we would do a PET scan every 6 months or so but he has had more than his lifetime exposure to radiation and they aren't going to do it again. Waiting to find out how we WILL find out if the cancer comes back.

The VA acknowledges that the cancer most likely came from some kind of exposure during his service. However they refuse to compensate him since he's in remission.  We're appealing it.

He misses how life was before the cancer when he was more robust. He tires easily now.

I will try to keep y'all updated more frequently. Love to everyone!
