It is with such heavy hearts that Craig and I receive this news about David. His gentleness, wisdom, love, and spirit will be so missed. One my fondest memories of him are the Leith's New Year's Eve party where at midnight, he would show up at the door with flowers from the garden for Doreen. That and a few other images will be forever planted as precious memories of David. With much love, derrick and craig

I will miss David so much. He welcomed me and my family to First Pres 6 years ago, and I have looked forward to his Sunday welcome hug every week since then. He was a wonderful person, and I feel blessed to have known him. My sincere sympathies to Doreen and the rest of the Leith family.

I served with David on the First Presbyterian Church Session--he always had a kind word, and was very encouraging as I was trying to decide whether or not I was ready for this responsibility. He was a very accomplished person, but managed to stay very down-to-earth. I'm very lucky to have known him and worshiped with him. My heart goes out to his family.

I knew Dr. Leith - through the Church; I also went to his office at SLAC, to talk about my presentation of an algorithm that might have been suitable for Physicists, I will miss him for ever. I also went to their house for Thanksgiving dinner twice -- they kindly invited me. Doreen -- please accept my heartfelt sympathies.
