On Monday, April 26 I'll be undertaking spinal fusion surgery to correct spinal stenosis (a narrowing of the spinal canal) in my lower and middle back. The condition began gradually several years ago, getting worse and worse, afflicting primarily my legs with terrific pain and weakness, pelvic area, and eventually including and up to my mid-back.
I'll be be in the hospital, OHSU (Oregon Health and Science University) for a week, then transferring to a residential rehabilitation facility for perhaps 2 weeks, depending on my progress.
Where I might need your help is when I get home; the healing period is 6 months to a year and the initial days and weeks I may need help-- what that could be is yet to be determined. But could I ask for your help when needed? I'll put out a general request and hope that I could rely on your generous spirit to help a friend in need!
