I'm not sure if this is your latest entry, David, but I wanted you to know that I think of you often with such great admiration for who you are!... So glad that you are alive.

Dear David,
THank you so much for your words today at CPQM Winter 2024. I felt deeply moved.
And I wanted to send this to you, it is a profound interview of Rabbi Sharon Brous on the same day as her op ed in the NY Times.

Dear David, It's so wonderful to see your smiling face and think of you doing well.
This has not been the case with everyone; I'm losing people. I'm grateful not only for your life, but that you are continuing, still spreading light and offering hope. May we see the other side of the transition time. May you and I and everyone here be alive to see it turn. Much love,
Shodo

Blessings to you, David. I listened yesterday to the children of Gaza singing the song about preferring martyrdom to losing Palestine. It's very beautiful, but so sad; many more people are listening since the assassination of a top Hamas leader.
Thank you for posting the children from Ramallah Friends school singing. I haven't been able to listen yet, but I'm sure it is more positive than the martyr song. What a world. Take care, wishing you a healing new year,
Karen

Hi, David and all,
I love all the deep caring and work being done in the face of places of terrifying conflict and suffering all over the world.

But this weekend I received a startling and, given though, very apt reminder that our first and foremost job right now is to prevent the election to office of Donald Trump. We were reminded that Hitler was brought into office at first by election. The unmistakeable threat of the racist, sexist, classist, ableist (and etc.) policies of Trump and all those supporters is huge, and upon us. We need to get out the vote next November for "not Trump" in whatever form the Democrats offer it to us, because the alternative may well be THE LOSS OF OUR DEMOCRACY.

If you pay attention to the tones, but overt and under, of the Republican spokespeople as well as Trump himself, you see lying, denial of reality and other pernicious and persistent messages designed to seduce scared white people and others who are vulnerable to look for "protection" for their "security" at all costs.

This danger is real, immediate and losing this election to that side, whoever their candidate is. will prevent us from any progress on the other huge challenges to global peace and the habitability of our planet.

Please take this seriously, and hopefully, act on it. Thanks for reading.

Happy New Year, David & Jan! Thanks, David, for sending these again. I had loved the National Security video and shared it but couldn't hear the song the first time. This time it came through - so beautiful and moving by the children.

Until you mentioned it today on the zoom, I didn't know that your father was in Gaza in 1947--with a Friends AFSC program?
