A message from David...

I wanted to update you on my health.  This past week has been surreal and unbelievable.  I have always been blessed with great health and have not missed a day of work in 15 years.  For me to discover that I had a brain tumor was shocking.

From a timeline perspective, I was in Waco the beginning of May celebrating my oldest daughter's graduation from Baylor.    I then traveled to Salt Lake City on business.  During the end of my trip, I began to experience some fatigue and headaches.  When I returned home (Friday 5/18), I went to the doctor thinking I was suffering from a sinus infection.  The doctor prescribed sinus medication and encouraged  me to get some rest.  Throughout the weekend my condition deteriorated.  On Monday (5/21) I returned to the doctor and after a brief exam he encouraged us to go to the ER in The Woodlands.  The next day (Tuesday 5/22), I had an MRI which revealed I had a tumor on my brain.  Wednesday (5/23), I was transferred from The Woodlands to The Medical Center in Houston.  I underwent successful surgery on my brain Thursday (5/24), came home on Saturday (5/26) and am now on the road to recovery.

Sherrene and I went back for a follow up visit with my neurosurgeon on Tuesday (5/29).  We were given the news that this was indeed a malignant tumor.  Wednesday (5/30), I visited a leading oncologist at MD Anderson.  Based upon the preliminary pathology report, it appears I have an aggressive form of brain cancer (GBM, glioblastoma multiforme).  The treatment plan is to have my stitches removed Tuesday (6/5), see a radiologist oncologist and them begin a 4-6 week series of radiation and chemo.

This month, I celebrated my 15 year anniversary with David Weekley Homes.  I remember during my interview process, I told David that I wanted to finish my career at DWH.  It's been a blessing and incredibly rewarding experience.

I have strong faith in a mighty God and know that I will be healed.  My goal is to have a total healing and come back better and stronger than ever.  God's hand has been on me throughout this process and I know HE will restore my health and life.

My family and I are humbled and appreciated of the prayers, love support and well wishes from our friends, team members and the entire Weekley family.  We will keep everyone informed on my health and recovery.

Blessings,
David Hale

Update from David this week:

After my third week of treatments (halfway point), without any negative side effects.  I am feeling good, getting rest as directed and continuing an exercise routine.  Fortunately, I have been able to work somewhat around my treatments and stayed engaged with business.  This has been a welcomed diversion.

The good news is that I feel good, am healthy, have great support from my family at home and my David Weekley Homes' family.  Most importantly, I have a positive attitude and a strong faith in a loving Heavenly Father and am confident in my healing.  I have experienced the Lord with me through this entire journey and am humbled by the prayers and support from friends, team members, family and business associates.  God is definitely at work in my life and the lives of others.  I appreciate your continued prayers.
