Journal entry by Diane Drake

On September 5, 2022 at 12:20 am David lost his 2 1/2 battle with Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML).

He enjoyed 2 years in remission when we found out the Leukemia had returned. At that time and up until his death he fought hard, but the Leukemia won.  He wanted so badly to make it thru June of 2023 so that he and I could celebrate our 40th wedding Anniversary.

David said he wanted to die at home and with the aide of Home Hospice he was able to be home up until the last few hours of his journey.  The family felt more help was needed so David was transported to the Israeli Hospice House in Ames, Iowa.  With their help David was able to pass peacefully.

It was a long tough journey and I thank everyone for their prayers and well wishes and more prayers since his diagnosis on March 5, 2020.

Special thanks to his Oncologist Dr. Kodali and everyone at Bliss Cancer Center and also to the wonderful caring support of the nurses and patient care tech on the 5th floor at Mary Greeley Medical Center.

Rest in peace David until I am called to join you.  I love you, I miss you terribly.  Love forever.  Your wife, your best friend Diane
