Dave was in a serious motorcycle accident 5-31-18 He has spinal cord injuries, fractured back, a broken leg, and a breathing tube. He had had neck surgery today to fix damaged spinal cord to relieve pressure. He is resting comfortably and can not receive visitors at this time. Please pray for his recovery. Thank you for your concern~ Dave's family
David is starting to breath on his own. He is exercising his diaphragm and starting to taking his own breaths for a small amount of time. This is a very important improvement to his road of recovery. He is sleeping comfortably and still not receiving visitors at this time.
Dave had a drainage tube inserted in his back today that will help with the buildup of spine fluid. He is still under heavy sedation for pain but is resting comfortable. The Delmarcelle family would like to thank everyone for their prayers and concern.
Dave's sedation medication was lowered this morning. He is responsive to questions and is alert and aware of his surroundings. Until he is off the ventilator he is unable to speak so visitation will remain the same with immediate family only.
Dave has such a wonderful support system backing him up and is moving in the right direction!
Some good news, my father was able to move his neck shoulders and arms a little, as well as miraculously moved his legs and toes a tiny bit (even the fractured one!) Although just a little it shows that he is and want to fight. I don’t believe anything can stop my father.....Superman does exist.
Super Dave had a big day yesterday with surgeries and lots of improvements! Doctors removed a feeding tube that ran down his throat and inserted what is called a trach and PEG. This procedure make it so Dave will have less tubes down his throat (which is more comfortable for the patient). He is more alert everyday and no fevers.
He continues to exercise his diaphragm daily and is breathing longer on his own with help from ventilator. Right now he is unable to talk until throat heals but will eventually get that back with time.
Dave also had surgery to fix his broken leg and everything went well! His family is grateful for all the prayers and support for Dave!! Keep 'em coming! SUPER DAVE!
Dave has started physical therapy! His voice is improving since the trach and we are able to hear him with a soft whisper. He keeps working muscles in the arms and the legs and gets more sensation everyday. Dave was able to sit up for 3 in-a-half hours today! THIS IS HUGE! We continue to watch his vitals and breathing and everything is looking great! We are grateful for all the wonderful support and motivation Dave has been receiving...keep it coming!
Intense physical therapy focuses on getting Dave in and out of a wheel chair today. Doctors are impressed and excited with the amount of movement he has been able to gain back in such a short amount of time (shoulders, neck, arms, wrists, hips, and toes!). Tomorrow he will be working on steering the chair himself.
A new trac has replaced the old one so my dad is able to speak! He’s using an exercise bike with the help of equipment to strengthen the muscles in his legs. My dad is working extremely hard with the help of my mom by his side pushing him everyday. He has also made it 1min 7secs sitting up on his own!! Keep it up Dad!!!
On May 31st at around 1:00 pm Dave was traveling on his motorcycle to his job when he was struck head on by a car. He was rushed to Aurora Hospital with life threatening injuries. He suffered severe trauma to his spine, back and leg.
