Journal entry by Dave Prom —
Well, it's day 14 here at Club OHSU and it looks like my vacation here is going to be extended by a few days. Week 2 was definitely worse than week one, but I am dealing with the side effects as they come. The only thing keeping me here at this point is my blood counts. I needed platelets a few days ago and I had a blood transfusion of red blood cells this morning at 2:30 a.m. The real issue is my white blood cells and neutrophils. My white blood cell counts have started to appear, but no neutrophils. I can't be released until my neutrophil count is 500 or higher, so I hope they start showing up by tomorrow. I have been receiving neupogen shots every day, so that should help soon. I am now shooting for Friday or Saturday as my release date. Even though I will have to come back here 2-3 times per week once I'm released, it'll be so nice just to be home. I really want to thank Lynnda, Diana, Loren, Andra, Debbie,Felicia,Matthew and Andrew for all there work getting our home ready for my return. On a side note, it looks like Hair today, gone tomorrow. I've kept it as long as I could, but at this point my hair is thinning at a rapid rate and it looks like I will probably shave it off tomorrow. Not a big deal, but it will be interesting how it turns out. Again, thanks for all of your love and support. I will update you again when I am actually back home. Take care.
