Dave’s Story

Site created on July 19, 2020

Family and Friends,

On July 17th, 2020 Dave was involved in an ATV accident at his parent’s home in northern Michigan. Dave hit a bump, aggravating a previous injury and causing him to lose feeling in his arms. He wasn’t able to control the ATV, and crashed into a tree. He was transported to Munson hospital in Traverse City for care. He underwent a long, intensive surgery to remove the discs in his neck and fuse C3-C7 together. Dave has paralysis in his arms. When he’s stable enough to be discharged from the hospital, he will be moving to an inpatient rehab center for recovery. We appreciate everyone’s thoughts and prayers. We’ll do our best to keep this site updated with ongoing progress.

Let’s help Dave overcome this obstacle in his life!

Newest Update

Journal entry by Amanda Wilson

There’s not a lot new to report. Dave continues to make steady progress and is slowly increasing his mobility. He’s attending rehab 1-2 times per week and exercises at home the other days. His pain levels are decreasing, which is great news!

The weather has been cool so hasn’t been swimming lately. He’s been getting out of the house more often and hanging out at the family pole barn. Dave’s been spending time learning to fly his new drone.

Thanks to everyone for your continued support! Dave likes seeing your comments and words of encouragement.
