Journal entry by Rose Dressler

Today we went for Dave’s radiation staging.  This day couldn’t come fast enough.  He is just covered in wounds that are draining and he is just absolutely frustrated and feels defeated. I truly feel so bad for him.  It is just eating at him emotionally.  The reality of it all has hit pretty hard.  To be going through constant treatment from February last year until now at The City of Hope and nothing has worked has been a lot to digest.  During the staging today, the radiation oncologist said that it’s a shame that they couldn’t start treatment on him today.  The one who actually does the radiation said that they had a free hour and they sent Dave in immediately to start treatment.  They are going to work on his left flank 1st as it’s the worst wound that he has and has been a real problem.  They plan on just doing that wound 1st and will do 10 rounds of radiation on it.  We are hoping that it dries out possibly this week or so.  After these 10 rounds, they will start addressing his other areas.  We know that radiation will certainly take care of these wounds but we are hoping that there is something out there to get to what’s going on on the inside of Dave.  We will follow up with City of Hope once he has completed all of his radiation treatments to see what other options they have in mind.  We were told recently that he is running out of options but there are a few that they may start him on.  Please continue to keep Dave and our family in your prayers.  We are truly blessed to have you all as our support.  We will keep you posted how his wounds progress.  Love to you all.
