Hi Dave, You are learning just like I did that if a little bit is good, a whole lot is not bettering can set you back just like it did me, but hang in there because with perseverance and determination you will come out better than you were when you started. So follow the Doctor' orders and eventually you will win.

Quite the journey. I struggled with radiation and chemo and had issues but nothing like you are going through. When I was going through Chemo I would eat oatmeal that had been run through the vita mixer and then cooked the old fashion way by bringing the water and oats to a boil, letting it boil for 3 minutes stirring occasionally and then turn off burner, cover and let sit for a minute. I would also make soft boiled eggs and learned how to do them perfectly with a tip from the mother of my pastor. If you need to learn how to make them call me some evening and I will share the secret . I will send you an e-mail with my phone number. My wife also made all kinds of smoothies and loaded them up with all kinds of fruits, powder milk, whey powder, etc. I lost 25 lbs during my treatment but I didn't end up with a feeding tube - thank God!
I too had similar taste issues and after two years some of the taste buds have finally come back. My oncologist said it can take 2 to 5 years for the taste buds to return. Strawberries tasted salty, certain fruits tasted acidic, etc. For the longest time I could not drink any carbonated beverages (mouth would burn and tongue would feel like on fire) but after two years from completion that has finally subsided so I can drink a beer now and then but I usually drink a Radler (1/2 beer mixed with 1/2 lemon juice).
I will keep you on the prayer list. Hang in there and keep up the positive attitude. God bless.
Roger
