Journal entry by Rosemary Brosch —
The infection in Dave's big toe did get down to the bone in September (the anti-rejection medication prevented his body from healing the infection) and his toe was removed. In November, the four month kidney biopsy showed slight signs of rejection and Dave was put back in the Rochester Mayo hospital for four days. Mayo gave him a high dose (500 mg) of Prednisone for three days. Dave was schedule for a second biopsy on December 16, but that was cancelled due to Dave having a number of high blood pressure readings during the pre-op visit about an hour before the biopsy was schedule. It was decided that his kidney numbers looked good and the reward of making sure the kidney was okay didn't outway the risk of bleeding during the biospy. Another biopsy will be scheduled in June or July 2020 for his one year check up.
Dave is doing much better after all of his health issues in 2019. We would like to thank everyone again for all your help, thoughts and prayers this past year.
