Dave’s Story

Site created on December 14, 2021

Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your prayers and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting.

Dave began feeling ill the week after Thanksgiving and on the night of Dec 2nd Donna took him to the Fairfield ER and he was admitted with double pneumonia and E.Coli. During his stay he developed at least one pulmonary embolism. During the night of December 12 technically early December 13 he became unresponsive and was placed on a vent. After multiple attempts to locate a hospital willing to take a transfer he was flown to Mo Baptist in St. Louis Mo late the night of December 13.

Journal entry by Donna Bliss

Well on to the next chapter. I asked physical therapy earlier this past week if I could take Dave home Monday (tomorrow) and it is going to happen. So tomorrow morning I am taking him home. Lacking 2 days of being 7 weeks in hospitals. He has a lot of work ahead of him but he wants to be home. He will do outpatient therapy at Fairfield Hospital 3 days a week. He is still very weak so please keep the prayers coming.
We have had nothing but excellent care from the day this nightmare started. First in the emergency room at Fairfield Hospital then on second floor and then 3 weeks in St Louis at Missouri Baptist Hospital ICU and then back to Fairfield’s 3rd floor.
We are so blessed because we know it was all the prayers asking God to work his miracles is why he is still with us. ❤️
