I knew him just from walking around I always carry a knife on my side he would always stop me to teach me how to use it properly here made me smile he would help carry groceries and stop into the sewing shop I worked in just to chit chat I respect that man and will always remember him
My wife and I have ridden almost 10,000 miles on our bike since my bypass surgery in 2012, most of it on the Munger. We met and talked with Darrel a number of times and, of course, saw him on his bike frequently. We both found him to be a friendly and caring person. We will miss him next Summer.
Darrell, this is no one like you. Who is going to tell me "You don't understand" and then shake their head from side to side like you would do? I can still hear you knocking on my door, and patiently waiting outside eating away at 1/2 gallon of vanilla ice-cream, an apple, or another one of your favorite treats that you keep so neatly organized and packed in your bags on your bike. Fixing my lawnmower, bringing me agates, bottles and caterpillars Darrell. When that Cecropia caterpillar that you brought over comes out of it's cocoon this summer, I'm going to take a pic of it for you and name it Darrell before I let it go. We all individually and as a group have so many special memories of your impact in our lives. Fish away Darrell all you want now and thanks for the walleyes you caught and filleted on my back stairs this summer-hey what about your secret fishing spot? West Duluth loved you Darrell and you are it's Number 1 resident/citizen forever. Love you, sister Sue 🍦🔧🚲🍎
