Journal entry by Ashley Patchen

It is with a very heavy heart that I would like to share with everyone in our network of support what has been going on with our mom this past year.

In May of 2018 mom noticed a sore on her tongue. Through a whole mess and run around of multiple appointments it was determined that she had stage 1 squamous cell cancer in her tongue.

September 11th 2018 she had her first surgery to remove the mass on the right side of her tongue. We were all relieved that they got it all.

In April of 2019 she noticed the glands in the right side of her neck were swollen. She was not able to be seen until July 2019 when a pet scan revealed she had something. The plan was to remove 4 lymph nodes.

On August 23rd 2019 she had surgery on her neck and 26 lymph nodes were removed. Through a biopsy they determined 23 were cancerous.

On September 3rd 2019 our mom was diagnosed with stage 4 head and neck cancer. A treament plan was in order for chemo and radiation. Mom has now had 2 four hour chemo treatments and 11 radiation treatments with a long road ahead.

Yesterday October 9th 2019 our mom was given an MRI due to some excruciating pain she has in her lower back. Her back hurts so bad she can barely walk. We took her to the ER last night and we were able to get the MRI results back.

Mom has multiple cancerous lesions in her spine, sacrum, and pelvis. Her L4 and sacrum are two of the largest cancerous sites.

At this time our family is numb, scared, yet we are very brave and strong for each other. We are asking for love, support, and any guidance through this foreign journey. Brittney and I would like to organize a benefit and we need help. I will also be creating a caring bridge site. Any advise is welcome.

Prayer warriors- we need you.

Dear beloved Lord,

We pray to you to heal our mom. We pray that you take her pain away and give her the best fighting chance. We pray that she can enjoy the rest of her life surrounded with peace, love, and happiness. In the name of Jesus, Amen. 🙏❤
