There hasn’t been any memorial services planned yet for my dear Pop.  There has been one obstacle after another occur which has made “pulling it all together” nothing short of a nightmare. One thing I am confident in, is that his friends and family who we share a mutual respect and admiration for will be there for him in mind, body and spirit when that time comes.

Meanwhile, my brother and I are trying to wrap up Pop’s legal and financial affairs.  Ever since “Ratgate” of 2021-2022 of my apartment, I’d had a lot of my belongings here at Pop’s house, so making his house my official mailing address has been quite easy.  I filed a few change of address forms, and that was that. I now must finish getting the remainder of my “stuff” out of the apartment, and store or sell that doesn’t fit here at the house. 

All Pop’s clothes sit untouched in his dresser, and hang unmoved in his closet. His fly tying room is just as he left it, with some spools of thread ready for his barbless hooks, a pattern fly set up to model. I bought a gorgeous Abel reel for him that’s an iridescent teal that he had set on top of his humidor, the line loosely spooled for when he was ready to test it out and see how many fish she lands. 

What I do have planned for this summer is I want to host and hold a memorial fishing derby to honor Pop and his favorite sport, fishing. I’ve been a little slack in getting that going, but that will be underway soon. Time and location, too be announced. 

For our local non-fishing, non mountaineering friends and family, in lieu of a traditional Catholic Funeral, we will hold a Celebration of Life. I will post and share info as it becomes available.
