Kristy,
A family friend sent a link to your latest CB entry. We have never met, but I want you to know that my heart goes out to you and the kids. My wife of 21 years passed away almost three years ago after living with cancer for some time. We have four kids, two of whom are still home with me. (Also, like Dan, I have worked in vocational campus ministry for over 20 years.)

In my own grief during this holiday season, I’ve been strengthened by these thoughts:

“The Lord’s anger is but for a moment. His favor is for a lifetime. / One may lie down weeping at night, but with the dawn comes a shout of joy” (Psalm 30, second stanza). I have not yet arrived at the “dawn” myself, but this promise helps me believe that weeping will not go on forever. Grace goes on forever. There will be an evening of loss and loneliness, but the day will dawn and joy will find us.

John Ortberg has captured this truth so well in his book, Soul Keeping: “There will be great pain, and there will be great joy. In the end, joy wins. If joy has not won, then it is not the end.”

Keep doing what you can, Kristy. Hold on to the promises when you can. When you cannot, the Promise-maker will hold on to you.

In the end joy wins. Your Dan and my Katie know this better than we do, but God invites us to trust this promise until we see its fulfillment.

May God be merciful to you and help you.

Kristy,
My heart goes out to you as you talk about parenting alone. Being a parent is hard even when you have a partner! Your continuing trust and reliance on God is such an inspiration to me and my family. We love you and are praying for you and the kids as you start this new part of your journey.
Hugs and blessings

Kristy, you are an amazing parent and just what your kids need... I’ve admired you from the moment we met in Wausau in 2011 because our daughters attended same school and have special needs. Keep pressing on and pressing in to HIM. It’s obvious these are your strengths. Love you all!💕

Kristy, I feel like copying and pasting this to OUR CaringBridge page. So many sentiments expressed here SO well that I feel and couldn't express any better.

I, too, am thankful for your posts and for the opportunity I have to share on our page as well. I'm so glad we've connected. I wouldn't have chosen this situation to be the focus of our connection, but God has permitted it in our lives for His purposes.

LOVE you LOTS and we pray for you every day!

Sending LOVE and HUGS!!!
